The 8th International Willkommen foreign languages competition 2020

Following the current situation caused by Covid-19, the countries of neighboring region as well as all over the world, administrative board of Willkommen has decided to hold this year’s foreign language competition on 21 November 2020.
The application for the competition is still active and it will last until 16/11/2020.

Note: The student registers as an independent competitor, and the teacher can apply to more schools and student-competitors.

Willkommen 2020: The Eight International Foreign Language Competition

 

Dear colleagues and students,

You are sincerely invited to participate as associates and partners this year as well,
in the eighth international Willkommen foreign languages competition.

Who is eligible to participate?

Students eligible to participate are the following:

Primary school students who learn English language as the first foreign language in their schools
(first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth year of study)

Primary school students who learn German language as the second foreign language in their schools
(first, second, third and fourth year of study)

Primary school students who learn French language as the second foreign language in their schools
(first, second, third and fourth year of study)

Primary school students who learn Italian language as the second foreign language in their schools
(first, second, third and fourth year of study)

Secondary school students who learn English language as a foreign language in their schools
(
first/fifth, second/sixth, third/seventh and fourth/eighth year of study ninth)

Secondary school students who learn German language as a foreign language in their schools
(
first/fifth, second/sixth, third/seventh and fourth/eighth year of study ninth)

** Private schools also have the right to participate.

Note: Since the competition was postponed to November due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19, the students’ knowledge will be tested on one level lower. Students of the 1st and 2nd year of study ( only English) take the same test.

Special categories are not the part of the competition.

 

Rules of organization

The competition is realized in two rounds: the preliminary and the final round of the competition.

The preliminary round will be held online, on November 21, 2020.

 

 

Candidate Registration and Fees

 

Private, public and state schools, as well as educational centers and language schools can participate. You can apply through an online Willkommen platform, on the following internet address: http://login.willkommen.org.rs/login.

The deadline for the application is 16th November, 2020. Candidates and Coordinators are obligated to check the participants’ data.

 

Participation fee

For participants from Serbia, participation fee is 700 Serbian dinars. For other countries, it is 7 €.

 

How can schools and individuals apply?

 

Schools which want to participate, shall fill in the school registration form and apply students through online application and application forms.

The student for whom the registration fee has been paid, will be accounted as registered.

Registration is possible through the online application platform. The costs of participation can be borne by the student, school or municipality. If a student wants to apply independently of his / her school, he / she should apply through the online platform at: login.willkommen.org.rs. After the application, the student receives a confirmation of participation in the competition.

After the application deadline, all candidates receive more detailed information about the exam.

The number of students going to the second round depends on the number of registered students in the first round. In order for a student to be eligible to go to the final round, a minimum of 150 students must be registered per level tested throughout the country.

The organizer reserves the right to correct the number of students who go to the finals, depending on the number of registered participants. It is necessary to have a minimum of three semi-finalists from a certain category from all participating countries, in order to organize the final round for that category.

Note: Relatives of the coordinator’s competition organizers cannot participate in the competition.

 

Why should you participate

 

1. Students

 

All participating students receive a certificate of participation in an international competition.

All participants in the competition, as well as members of their immediate family, receive a 10% discount for the first 10 hours of English, German or French on the Willkommen online learning platform.

 

Students who achieve notable results get the opportunity to win valuable prizes: cash prize or
books, dictionaries, Amazon vouchers, foreign language courses in the obtained value of the prize.

 

 

The number of students going to the second round depends on the number of registered students in the first round. In order for a student to be eligible to go to the final round, a minimum of 150 students must be registered per level tested throughout the country.

 

The organizer reserves the right to correct the number of students who go to the finals, depending on the number of registered participants. It is necessary to have a minimum of three semi-finalists from a certain category from all participating countries, in order to organize the final round for that category.

 

After the end of the application, and depending on the number of registered students in each country, the number of awarded students will be determined.

 

 

2. Professors

All teachers receive certificates of participation in the international competition.

All teachers and professors participating in the project get the opportunity to participate in other international projects and trainings.

 

 

 

3. Schools

Partner schools receive letters of thanks for participating in the international project.

Schools that apply for more than 100 students receive a dictionary for the school library.

 

Participation fee

The participation fee for participants from Serbia is 700 dinars, for participants from other countries it is 7 euros.

Until when can I apply?

Registration is possible until November 16, 2020.

How and where does the test material arrive?

Students will be informed in a timely manner about the schedule and the manner of realization of the competition on our platform.

Time of realization of the competition

 

Testing is realized online on November 21, 2020, as follows:

 

1. The English language- schedule will be published at a later date

 

2. German and French language and Italian – timetable will be published later

 

Test

 

Tests were done for each year of study. The tests for the first round consist of three parts: reading comprehension, language in use and an essay. In case two students have the same number of points, the essay, which is of an eliminatory character, is reviewed. In case two or more students have the same number of points on the test and the essay, a conversation is organized through our online platform.

 

The final round test consists of four parts: listening, reading comprehension, an essay, and conversation. Students are tested at one level higher than in the first round. Details of the final test will be published later and sent to the coordinators, teachers and professors whose students compete in the finals.

Learning scripts, which contain tests from last year’s competitions, will be published on our site. They can serve as guidelines in preparing students. Students can also find professional help in preparing for the competition on our online learning platform.

The results will be published  on our website www.willkommen.org.rs. Willkommen reserves the right to disqualify a student.

If two or more students have the same number of points, the essay will be evaluated and will be of an eliminatory character. If two or more students have the same number of points on both the test and the essay, live online testing from the conversation will be organized through the online platform.

Students whose mother tongue is English, German or French or who have spent more than three years in a language-speaking area of a particular language are not eligible to participate in the Willkommen competition.

Special categories are not the part of the Willkommen competition.

 

Final round

 

The final round will also be organized online. The list of students who achieved the right to participate in the final round with their results will be published on the website www.willkommen.org.rs.

Detailed information on the method and timetable for organizing the final round will be published later.

All participants of the competition accept the conditions of the Willkommen competition, the way of organizing and ranking students, participation, as well as the selection of prizes.

All private data of participants can be used only for the purposes of organizing the competition and will not be disclosed to a third party.
